BIO
Welcome to my website!
I am a writer. I have had the privilege of writing for academic audiences, in top academic journals and through contributions to edited volumes. My popular writing has also appeared in a number of outlets for Catholic intellectual journalism, such as Commonweal, America Magazine, and Church Life Journal.
I am an editor. I edit for Black Lion Academy and other outlets. Feel free to reach out to me with editing work.
I am a translator of Russian theological texts. I have three books on the way.
I am a professor. I teach theology at the University of Notre Dame.
Born to Cuban immigrants who sought refuge in the US, I come to the study of exiled religious thinkers - my main research focus - from a place of personal connection. A native speaker of Spanish who works with Russian texts, my forthcoming book is a translation of writings by the early 20th c. Marxist-turned-Orthodox priest Sergius Bulgakov, a political dissident who was exiled from his homeland.
